OUR STORY

WHY
OFF-DUTY?

Because that's when this business was built. The Off-Duty Fireman Clothing Company grew from real fire-service experience, a frustrating problem with buying uniforms and apparel, and the belief that customers deserved a better way to get custom clothing made.

WHERE IT STARTED

A PROBLEM
WORTH FIXING.

The idea for The Off-Duty Fireman came from a problem Todd knew firsthand. Getting the uniforms and apparel he needed meant dealing with long drives, high prices, inconsistent quality and long waits. For something firefighters and other working professionals rely on every day, the process felt harder than it needed to be.

Todd and Maria believed they could build something better: a company that treated the person ordering one item with the same respect as the organization ordering dozens, paid attention to quality, offered sensible options and remained accessible when customers had questions.

THE NAME WASN'T A MARKETING EXERCISE.The business was built around Todd's fire-service career—working on apparel and customer projects during the time he was off duty. “The Off-Duty Fireman” simply described what was happening.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE COMPANY

A HUSBAND-AND-WIFE BUSINESS.
TWO DIFFERENT STRENGTHS.

FOUNDER • FIRE SERVICE • PRODUCTION

TODD

Todd brought the fire-service experience that shaped the company from the beginning. His background gives The Off-Duty Fireman an understanding of department culture, uniforms, station apparel, rank and identity that is difficult to reproduce from outside the fire service.

  • Career firefighter/paramedic background
  • Firsthand understanding of Fire & EMS apparel needs
  • Hands-on approach to production and customer projects
  • Focused on practical solutions rather than one-size-fits-all ordering
CO-FOUNDER • CREATIVE DIRECTION • BRAND

MARIA

Maria brought the creative side of the business to life—helping shape the visual identity, artwork, design and personality behind the company. She also created the phrase that continues to capture the company's approach: “Imagine It! Create It! Wear It!”

  • Creative direction and visual identity
  • Artistic and design perspective
  • Photography and brand presentation
  • Creator of the original company tagline
IMAGINE IT!CREATE IT!WEAR IT!

It isn't just a slogan. It describes the relationship we want to have with customers—from the first rough idea through the finished garment.

IMAGINE IT!Bring the idea, logo, sketch, event or need.
CREATE IT!We help turn it into production-ready apparel and artwork.
WEAR IT!The finished piece becomes something your people can actually use and enjoy.
WHAT STILL MATTERS

THE BUSINESS GREW.
THE IDEA DIDN'T CHANGE.

We have more capabilities today, but the principles behind the company remain straightforward.

01

QUALITY MATTERS

Decoration should look professional and garments should make sense for how they'll actually be worn.

02

SMALL ORDERS MATTER

Not every customer needs hundreds of pieces. We built the company with flexibility in mind.

03

PEOPLE NEED HELP

Customers shouldn't have to understand every production process before asking for a quote.

04

SERVICE IS PERSONAL

You're working with a real small business rather than disappearing into a giant production system.

HOW WE GOT HERE

BUILT
ONE STEP AT A TIME.

THE PROBLEM

Firsthand frustration with the cost, travel, wait and quality involved in obtaining work uniforms and apparel created the original idea.

2018 — THE OFF-DUTY FIREMAN

The brand was established with a focus on better service, custom apparel and the needs of first responders.

THE BUSINESS EXPANDS

What began with strong first-responder roots grew to serve businesses, schools, teams, unions, organizations and other customers who wanted the same personal approach.

ONLINE STORES + MORE CAPABILITIES

Custom organization stores, embroidery, screen printing, DTF, patches and production artwork expanded what the company could offer.

TODAY

The Off-Duty Fireman remains firefighter-owned while serving customers well beyond the firehouse.

BORN IN THE FIRE SERVICE. BUILT TO SERVE EVERYONE.

OUR ROOTS ARE
PART OF THE PROMISE.

Fire & EMS will always be part of our identity, but the same standards apply whether we're working with a department, union, local business, school, team or organization.

The goal is simple: understand what you're trying to accomplish, recommend a practical way to produce it and make the process easier.
